Active Ingredient

Tolnaftate 1%

Purpose: antifungal solution
Why: FDA-recognized OTC antifungal with 60+ years of clinical safety data. Inhibits squalene epoxidase to kill dermatophyte fungi. Chosen over prescription alternatives because it's effective, safe for daily topical use, and requires no medical supervision.

Supporting Ingredients

Australian Tea Tree Oil

Purpose: Antimicrobial support
Why: Clinically studied natural antifungal. Active compound (terpinen-4-ol) attacks fungal cell membranes through a different mechanism than Tolnaftate, providing complementary coverage.

Thyme Oil (Thymol)

Purpose: Biofilm disruption
Why: Breaks down the protective biofilm that shields fungal colonies from treatment. Without Thymol, antifungal agents struggle to reach the infection.

Camphor

Purpose: Penetration enhancement
Why: Softens keratin in the nail plate, allowing active ingredients to penetrate deeper. Also provides mild antimicrobial activity.

Vehicle & Preservation

Alcohol

Purpose: Solvent and quick-dry agent
Why: Dissolves active ingredients into a uniform solution and enables the 60-second dry time. Evaporates completely, leaving only the treatment and concealer behind.

Phenol

Purpose: Preservative and mild antiseptic
Why: Prevents bacterial contamination of the product during its 30-45 day use period. Also provides light antiseptic protection at the application site.
