CamoToe for Thick Toenails: Tips for the Best Results
Thick Nails Need Extra Attention
Toenail fungus often causes nails to thicken over time. The keratin layers build up, creating a rough, uneven surface that's harder to cover and harder to treat.
CamoToe works on thick nails, but prep makes a significant difference in how natural the result looks.
Step 1: Trim
Cut the nail as short as comfortably possible using heavy-duty nail clippers (standard clippers may not cut through thickened nails). Cut straight across to avoid ingrown edges.
Step 2: File the Surface
This is the key step most people skip. Use a coarse nail file or emery board to gently file the top surface of the nail:
- File in one direction, not back-and-forth
- Remove the rough, flaky outer layer until the surface is relatively smooth
- Don't file too aggressively — you're smoothing, not thinning
Filing serves two purposes: it creates a smoother surface for CamoToe to adhere to, and it reduces the keratin barrier so the antifungal ingredients can penetrate more effectively.
Step 3: Apply CamoToe
After filing, clean the nail with rubbing alcohol to remove dust, then apply CamoToe as usual. On thicker nails:
- You may need one extra stroke for full coverage
- Keep coats thin — multiple thin strokes look more natural than one thick glob
- Allow slightly longer drying time (90 seconds instead of 60)
What to Expect
On thick nails, CamoToe may not create a perfectly smooth appearance on day one. But with consistent daily application and regular filing (every 3-4 days), the appearance improves steadily as the nail grows out healthier.
Important Notice: CamoToe is a cosmetic nail concealer — it is not a prescription medication. Individual results may vary. If your condition persists beyond 4 weeks of use, discontinue and consult a healthcare provider. For external use only. Keep out of reach of children.
